About the Creators

Nicole and Jamie Aranda are sisters from Santa Fe, NM. Inspired by Jamie's twin daughters and their fascination with a Zozobra figurine, Jamie set out to create a story for all families to read and share memories of their connection to Santa Fe and the diverse and rich cultural traditions that make this community unique and special.

Nicole Aranda, Illustrator

Nicole Aranda is a dedicated and humble artist who explores a variety of creative mediums, including sculpture, watercolor and acrylic painting, and jewelry making. Her work is a heartfelt expression of her life experiences, surroundings, and the natural world. Each piece she creates reflects her deep connection to her past and the elements of nature, imbuing her art with genuine emotion and meaning. Nicole's versatility and passion for her craft shine through in every project, making her a truly inspiring and down-to-earth artist.  

 

 

Jamie Aranda, Author

Jamie Aranda, born into a deep-rooted family from northern New Mexico, has dedicated her life to her community and the environment. Jamie has worked extensively in public relations and is involved on boards that focus on environmental issues and early childhood education. Her work has earned her recognition, including being named a Santa Fe Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 40 Under 40 awardee this year.

Inspired by her twin daughters and the rich cultural traditions she was raised with, Jamie's writing reflects her deep connection to her heritage and her passion for fostering a sense of community. This book is a testament to her commitment to celebrating and preserving the unique cultural landscape of Santa Fe. When she's not writing or working on community projects, Jamie enjoys outdoor recreation, attending local events, and spending time with her family, all of which further enrich her storytelling and connection to the vibrant culture of New Mexico.
